Kilimanjaro Trekking Marangu Route for 6 Days

ITINERARY DESCRIPTION BY DAY

Day 1 : Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut.

After breakfast, we’ll travel from Moshi or Marangu to the Kilimanjaro National Park’s Marangu entry to complete the necessary procedures. Our Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking – Marangu Route – 6 Days ascent starts in the breathtaking tropical rain forest. We ultimately make it to the first hut at Mandara, where we spend the night and have food. Another choice is to simply relax in the magnificent countryside that surrounds the site.

Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (2,700 m): 5-6 hours walking.

Day 2 : Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut.

The walk today begins with a challenging ascent through a forest, but soon the route emerges into moorland and, in clear weather, offers breathtaking vistas of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. We arrive at Horombo Hut in the middle of the afternoon, where you may relax and take in the spectacular scenery surrounding the camp.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720 m): 4-6 hours walking.

Day 3 : Horombo Hut – Mawezi Turn- Horombo Hut. (Acclimatization)

We walk a little further today to acclimatize as we move past the Zebra Rocks and toward the Mawenzi Hut. We suggest drinking plenty of water and moving slowly. You receive all of your meals for the day at the Horrombo hut.

Horombo hut for further to improve our acclimatization.

Day 4 : Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut.

We climb slowly today toward the Saddle, a lunar desert halfway between Mawenzi and Kibo. We will hike slowly for these 6-7 hours up to Kibo Cabin (4,700m), where we will spend the night in a comfortable hut. There is no running water in Kibo Hut. The rest of the day is spent relaxing in preparation for the last ascent after a relatively early night.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,700 m.); 4-6 hours walking.

Day 5 : Kibo Hut – Summit – Horombo Hut.

Get up in the darkness before midnight. A moderate, steady pace will bring us to the rim of Gillman’s 5,685 m main crater after our ascent begins sharply on loose volcanic scree with some well-graded zig-zags. There, we’ll take a brief stop to observe the sunrise above Mawenzi. Those in good health can travel the three-hour roundtrip to Uhuru peak (5,895 m), Africa’s highest point, from here around the crater rim. After you’ve had a chance to celebrate your achievement, we descend fast to Kibo Hut. We take a rest and enjoy some refreshments there before continuing on our descent to Horombo Hut.

Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut (3,720 m.): 13-15 hours walking.

Day 6 : Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate.

Successful climbers will receive their summit credentials when we descend to Marangu Gate today via Mandara Hut. As you go to Babylon Lodge in Marangu or Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel in Moshi for supper and an overnight stay, the Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking – Marangu Route – 6 Days will come to an end.
